Sign up for a weekend retreat with awarding winning garden photographer, Andrea Jones. A fascinating yet relaxed weekend of garden photography and nature appreciation.
During the retreat you will be able to share in some of Andrea’s secrets for capturing the essence of beautiful plants and gardens around the world for numerous national and international books and magazines she has illustrated over the last twenty five years. The experience is set to be small and friendly with a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 participants.
Day One Check in from 3.30 pm. During the early evening Andrea will give an illustrated presentation based on her latest book (published by Timber Press) 'The Garden Photography Workshop' The talk will be followed by a three course dinner in the dining room.
Day Two there will be an early photography session to catch the light in the garden. Optional trip to the stunning Culzean Castle on the cliffs near Maybole where the walled gardens offer many tempting photo opportunities.
Lunch will be included on both days over which lively chat will continue.
Day Two evening will be spent discussing the day's work and any problems and will include a further presentation on 'Remarkable Gardens' that Andrea has visited and photographed around the globe. Followed by three course dinner in the dining room.
Day Three
Another early start for those who are keen! Followed by a constructive critique back at the farmhouse. Lunch will be provided and then guests depart from 3 pm.
Plans may change according to weather conditions and requests from individual groups - we are all quite flexible! Be assured there will be plenty to photograph whatever the weather, we have a light and airy barn to work in and learn to photograph plants in close up if rain persists.
Andrea will be hosting a number of weekends offering guidance to those wanting to improve their garden and nature photography skills. So no fixed dates - we're open to your suggestions. The retreats will take advantage of the abundance of photogenic plants and natural subjects within easy reach of our doorstep. Guests will enjoy a taste of scenic Scotland and a sociable escape with plenty of genial information sharing between like minded folk.The residential retreats will include full accommodation and can be tailor made to suit small groups of between three to eight people (depending on room sharing requirements).
For larger groups Andrea will be assisted by Adam Stevens a talented photographer and videographer who works regularly as part of the team.
Alasdair will be at hand to assist anyone with artistic and domestic advice.
Matt Cross of ‘Wild About the Forest’ will also be at hand to give his guided nature walks on each of the retreats and as the farm is so well placed on the western edge of the Galloway Forest Dark Sky Park, he will also be available to guide guests around the night sky when darkness falls if they wish.

Price: tba - Price of the Retreat will be based on the configuration of rooms required by guests. Economically two people sharing a double/twin room but singles are very welcome!
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.
