We like to think we are in another world here – a little Brigadoon! However, we are in fact only an hour-and-a-half from Glasgow and if you are coming from Ireland less than an hour from Stranraer.  From the Scottish border we are approximately 2.5 hours.

Directions: From Glasgow International Airport, Edinburgh Airport or Prestwick International Airport

The main road that you will follow is the M77 to Kilmarnock/Ayr from the M8 just over the Kingston Bridge if travelling from Edinburgh and the north. The M8 also runs past Glasgow airport so follow sat nav directions to connect onto the M77 via Belahouston Park. The M77 becomes the A77 at Ayr and you follow this main road all the way to Girvan.

At Girvan take the first left at the large roundabout to the B734 and Barr Village. Please do look out for the signs at Old Dailly which point to Barr up a steep hill on the right.

Follow the B734 signposts all the way over the hills and down into the village over a hump back bridge. Take the next bridge on the immediate right and follow for an 1/8th of a mile. We are signposted on a tight left bend within site of the village, you can’t miss us and our two beautiful copper beech trees!

Beware - if you are using a GPS/Sat. Nav to drive to our farm please don’t follow the last instructions up a steep hill opposite. For some reason most sat. nav systems get this wrong!

Directions: From Carlisle

Take the M6 North from Carlisle.  At Gretna Green head West on the A75 towards Dumfries.  Stay on the A75, past Dumfries and keep going.  Eventually, after passing the turning to Newton Stewart and Minnigaff, you'll see the A714 on your right, take this, direction Challoch.  Stay on the A714, through Pinwherry and continue until you see the  B734 signpost and hump back bridge turning on the right to Barr.  Take this for approximately 5 miles.  Just before you enter the village of Barr you will see Alton Albany Farmhouse on your left.  Go past the house, around the left bend and then you will see the farm entrance (over a small bridge) into the grounds.  Park on the left next to the house and make your way back around to the front door via the large monkey puzzle tree and our orchard where we will welcome you.
